One Blazing Glance

One Blazing Glance, is supported by the PatsyLu Fund of the Open Meadows Foundation and the American Music Center’s Composer Assistance Program.  One Blazing Glance gives intimate, empowered, first-person portrayals of women at important moments in their lives.  It is a  setting of 17 poems on issues of childhood, adolescence, motherhood, mid-life transitions, and maturity. The poems, some ancient, and others contemporary, are from China, Korea, Romania, Nicaragua, Greece and others by Native American, African American, and Jewish American authors. The premier performance was November 13, 2007 at the Linda K. Paresky Conference Center at Simmons College, Boston, MA with Kathryn Wright and Kathleen O’Brien, soprano soloists; Wendy Rolfe, flute; Melissa Howe, viola; Felice Pomeranz, harp; and Winnie Dahlgren.
